We, the Pastoralist Development Agenda (PDA) are proud to announce that we have been formally accredited by Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as an official Voter Education Provider.
This significant certification, valid for three years from October 2025 to October 2028, authorizes PDA to conduct lawful and structured voter education activities across Laikipia County.
The accreditation, issued under the Elections Act (2011), Section 40(2), and bearing the official number IEBC/VEP/2025/0288, is a testament to PDA’s credibility, structured approach to civic engagement, and trusted standing within the community. It recognizes the organization’s capacity to deliver vital, non-partisan information to citizens.
What This Accreditation Means for Our Work
This formal partnership with the IEBC empowers PDA to expand and deepen its existing Civic Education Program. With this mandate, our team of trained facilitators can now officially:
- Conduct comprehensive voter education workshops to inform citizens of their electoral rights and responsibilities.
- Clearly explain voting procedures, the importance of voter registration, and how to verify registration details.
- Promote peaceful, informed, and participatory elections as a cornerstone of community stability and development.
Strengthening Peace and Informed Participation
This accreditation directly reinforces PDA’s core focus area of Peace and Security. Informed electoral participation is a critical tool for conflict prevention.
By ensuring pastoralist communities in Laikipia understand how to engage with governance structures and advocate for their needs through the ballot box, we help build a more stable and accountable political environment. This work is essential for resolving long-standing issues related to resource sharing and representation.
A Commitment to Our Community
“We are honoured to receive this accreditation from the IEBC,” said a PDA spokesperson. “It is both a recognition of our past community work and a powerful tool for the future. It formalizes our role in ensuring that every voice in Laikipia’s pastoralist communities is heard, informed, and empowered to shape the decisions that affect their lives.
This is not about politics; it is about empowering citizens with knowledge for peaceful and progressive governance.”
PDA remains committed to its principles of neutrality, inclusivity, and community-led development as we embark on this important phase of our civic education work.
