Mohamed Simba Guleid
About
Mohamed Simba Guleid is a Board Member of the Pastoralist Development Agenda and currently serves as the Coordinator of the NEDI project. He is the former CEO of the Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC), the regional development body for 10 arid and semi-arid counties in northern and north-eastern Kenya.
From 2013 to 2017, he served as Deputy Governor of Isiolo County, providing him with extensive experience in local governance and development planning for pastoralist communities. This role strengthened his understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in Kenya’s ASAL regions.
Mr. Guleid holds a master’s degree in Social Anthropology from the Free University, Amsterdam, Netherlands. His professional career spans roles in international development agencies and non-profits, including CORDAID, where he gained valuable experience in humanitarian and development programming. He has also managed a family business in logistics, relief supplies, petroleum, and construction, giving him practical insights into economic development and private sector engagement.
In his spare time, he contributes columns on national issues to publications such as the East African Standard and TRT World, demonstrating his commitment to advocacy and public discourse on matters affecting pastoralist communities.
