Our Women & Youth Empowerment program is a dedicated investment in the groups that hold the key to transformative change. We intentionally design opportunities for women and youth to move from the margins to the center of community life, economically, socially, and politically. By building their skills, confidence, and access to resources, we unlock innovation, drive more equitable development, and ensure the long-term vitality of pastoralist societies.
Our Integrated Approach:

Economic Empowerment: Providing targeted startup grants, business mentorship, and market access for women and youth-led enterprises, particularly within Agro-Value Chain and green sectors.

Leadership & Advocacy Training: Building skills in public speaking, advocacy, and community mobilization to ensure women and youth can effectively participate in local governance, Civic Education, and Peace and Security dialogues.

Safe Spaces & Mentorship Networks: Establishing and supporting women’s and youth groups that provide peer support, share knowledge, and collectively advocate for their rights and interests within their communities.
Impact & Alignment:
Empowering women and youth has a multiplier effect on all of PDA’s work. They become champions of Climate Change Mitigation practices, effective managers of WASH and health resources, and innovative entrepreneurs. Their full participation makes Peace and Security more inclusive and durable, and their leadership is essential for building truly resilient and self-reliant communities for generations to come.
